Project Description

5 Feb, 2026 – A free eye screening and cataract surgery camp was successfully conducted in Dhunibesi Municipality, Dhading. During the program, eye examinations were performed on 1,321 people, and 93 cases of cataract were identified.

The camp was organized by jointly by Rotary Club of Kathmandu and Rotary Club of Gongabu in collaboration with several Rotary Clubs and Rotaract clubs, with technical support from Nepal Eye Hospital and Shreyasi Enterprises Pvt. Ltd. Cataract surgeries were carried out on Magh 20–21, 2082 (Feb 5, 2026) at the proposed municipal hospital in Dhunibesi–7, and the camp officially concluded on Magh 23 after post-surgery checkups.

Among the identified patients, 68 people received free cataract surgery, while 5 patients were referred to Nepal Eye Hospital in Kathmandu for further treatment. The program mainly focused on senior citizens and was conducted in different locations including Chhatredeurali, Jivanpur, Naubise, and Kebalpur health posts.

Local leaders and organizers appreciated the humanitarian effort, noting that the initiative reflects Rotary’s motto “Service Above Self.” The successful surgeries restored vision for many elderly patients, bringing hope and gratitude to the community.
